College and Career Pathways
Today’s mentoring session at Jackson Middle School on the importance of voting was a blast. The ballots were completed and the votes are in.
Congratulations to Miss Deb, 8th grade class President. She won by a landslide over Miss Tina by promising treats, togetherness and parties during school time.
There seemed to have been a bit of bribery happening too, but I couldn’t tell with all the chewing and smacking and candy unwrapping. SMH. Miss Tina lost by adding Saturday school, healthier meals and a more strict teaching staff. Even Miss Troupe voted for Miss Deb!

We had a powerful and inspiring moment at our March 31st Jackson mentoring session!
We were honored to have Jamila Lee-Johnson, Assistant Dean of Inclusive Excellence at the University of Notre Dame, partner with The Links to speak with our girls about college and career pathways.
Dr. Johnson shared wisdom, encouragement, and real-life insight that challenged our young ladies to dream bigger, think boldly, and prepare intentionally for their futures. She reminded them that college is not just a possibility—it is within their reach.
These are the moments that plant seeds of confidence, purpose, and vision.
We are grateful for partnerships that help our girls see what’s possible and believe in who they can become..

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Andrea “Andy” Tuttle of the South Bend Fire Department - Fire Station # 7 for providing an outstanding Fire & Safety Training for the Jackson Middle School Mentoring Program girls!
As a firefighter and Lead Paramedic, Andy shared valuable information on fire safety, emergency preparedness, and adult CPR techniques. Our girls were engaged, inspired, and empowered with life-saving knowledge that can make a real difference in their families and communities.
